"Do You Want to Study in the USA?" Program

Terms and Conditions
www.americaneducated.org and the “Do you want to study in the USA?” program is intended to assist international students worldwide who plan to study in any of the fifty states of the United States of America. We provide students, parents, guardians, educators, researchers and professional advisers with education information and opportunities in the United States.

Students must read these Terms and Conditions carefully and understand them before signing and submitting their application to any college or university in the USA.

Responsibilities of student

Students wishing to study in the USA must have adequate English language skills to achieve their educational objectives. If proficiency is not known, students are advised to take both formal and informal English-proficiency tests within their country of origin, or take formal English-proficiency tests acceptable to the US institutions to which they plan to apply.

www.americaneducated.org does not admit to any agreement, promotion or endorsement of institutional tests such as the widely-accepted Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).®  It is best to contact and get information directly from the TOEFL website: http://www.ets.org

Students wishing to study in the USA must also show financial resources sufficient to meet tuition fees and other applicable expenses required by school, college or university. This may vary depending on the institution or state. Financial resources are shown in the form of bank statements in U.S. dollars or letters in English if a student is using personal funds.

The above stated cost of studying in the USA does not include the following expenses:

  1. Application fees

  2. Costs of postage or courier services for sending application packets (transcript of records, recommendation letters, sample of writing, etc.) to school.

  3. Medical and/or dental check-ups and certificates

  4. Insurance for pre-existing medical conditions, i.e., aliments which exist prior to arrival in the U.S.

  5. Meal and housing costs

  6. University textbooks and other necessary supplies.

  7. Air fares to and from the United States and the domestic airport closest to the school, college or university campus.

  8. Transportation

  9. Extra costs for English as a Second Language (ESL) which may be required from a student whose English language proficiency is inadequate.

  10. Graduate students may have higher costs of tuition and costs of living allowance. Costs for room and board may also be higher.

Special cases

Students with special needs or requirements should make these known at the time of application.

Rules

All international students studying in the USA are subject to the rules of the university in which they are enrolled. Students must assume full responsibility for compliance. Rules governing alcohol, controlled drugs, honors offenses, and other serious matters will be strictly enforced. Applicants are reminded that international students in the United States must comply with both the letter and the spirit of the law in order to retain valid student visas. Violations of such laws will render the participant liable for immediate dismissal from the program and repatriation to the home country, if not legal prosecution for violation of the laws of the state or federal jurisdictions involved. In most, if not all, cases no refund of fees will be made in the event of dismissal or withdrawal.

Payment of fees

According to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) website, "foreign citizens applying to become F or M students or J exchange visitors pay the following SEVIS I-901 fee amounts:"

I-901 F-1/M-1 visa applicants (full payment)

I-901 J-1 visa applicants (full payment)

I-901 Government visitor (no payment)

Some schools, colleges or universities accept credit card payments. For clarification and information, it is best to contact the school, college or university administration.

Applying for a visa

Once a student has been accepted into a program, they will be provided with an I-20 Form from the US Immigration and Naturalization Service, issued by the participating university. An I-20 Form is required to start the process of obtaining a student visa to enter the United States. You will also be required to present financial documentation to the US Consular Office in your country. We advise you to have a letter from your parents or other source of support stating their responsibility for your expenses throughout. A bank statement or letter verifying their financial ability to cover your expenses should also be provided.

Late applications

Admission is subject to space availability so early application and payment is advised. In particular, students are advised to apply for a visa as soon as possible, because the process can cause delays to admission.
